What does hitch mean?
Hitch, the word itself, has many meanings among different industries. Still, at its root, it basically means a "period of service." For us, in the oil and gas industry, we break it down like this. "The day you start packing your shit and head out to the field. Jobs in the oil and gas industry can offer great paying positions, but one thing is for sure, you will be away traveling. (unless you live near by then great for you) The work schedules also vary among oil field companies and operators. Some rotational schedules can be the general 14/7 (14 days on and 7 days off), 14/14, while offshore work hitch can range from 14/14 and 28/28. Either your commute includes driving or flying to your work location. Mentally and physically, you commit to the sacrifice of being away from family and friends while on hitch, so pack your get-it-done attitude, and leave your feelings at home. "Pitter patter lets get at'er."
